My new best friends

So, this post is kind of silly, but I've discovered lots of new cleaning friends lately. We had another crayon incident in the dryer again. Grrrr. A whole load of clothes covered in blue and the dryer was a pretty blue also. I searched around on the internet and found two things that really, really work for removing crayon out of the dryer and out of clothes. Here they are:

Mix all these together and they will remove crayon that has been melted onto clothes! How cool is that?! Here's the recipe: 2 maximum doses of Tide, 1 cup liquid oxyclean ( I used two scoops of powder, but I think you could use less), 1/2 cup borax, 1 cup liquid shout, 1 cup white vinegar. As weird as it seems, it really works. Put it all in the wash with the hottest water setting your clothes can handle and agitate for five minutes then let soak overnight. It got almost everything out, so I soaked it again for another night and everything but two tiny spots on a towel came out. In the morning the wash water was so blue you couldn't see the clothes in it. It seems a little expensive to buy all this stuff if you don't have it, but it's much less expensive than throwing out an entire load of clothes and buying new ones. The next picture is bar keepers friend. This stuff removed all of the crayon out of the dryer with only a tiny bit of scrubbing involved. And when you use it on stainless steal it's awesome. It makes your sink so shiny without all the elbow grease it usually would take. It comes in powder form too and is pretty cheap that way. Haven't tried the powder yet though. I love a shiny sink!

This nifty little guy is my new steam mop. They are kind of expensive, but I'm in love with this thing. I don't have to use any soap (which is great if you have hardwood floors) It cleans really well, and my floors are dry in about two minutes. The floors here are terrible and they don't come clean. I scrubbed my kitchen for two hours one day on my hands and knees with tons of cleaner and got really frustrated, so I bought this mop. In ten minutes I cleaned the rest of the floors in the house and they looked better than the kitchen that I had scrubbed for two hours. Oh, and when the kids splash water all over the tiles in the bathroom during bath time I don't have to clean it up with towels any more. This thing dries it all right up in no time and my floors get cleaned at the same time! Yea!
